Well, after a nice pleasurable weekend it's back to the commute for me tomorrow morning. Not too fussed this week as I'm of on hols for 2 weeks on Friday so I've got one less day of GNER than usual.
As expected Friday turned out to be quite eventful. For those that haven't read my least entry, the misses and I were off to see Keane on Friday night which meant I had to come into work in the morning, travel back to P'boro at lunchtime, head off back to Londinium at tea time and catch the last GNER home at bed time.
Wasn't too bad on the 07:20 but on the way back at lunchtime, I just missed my train so jumped on one of the bone shakers which stops ar vitually every stop between KK and The Boro. Other than the fact they're not air conditioned, it ran on time and did the job. I could see why they're cheaper than GNER though.
Anyway the misses and I went for the 18:20 at tea time which arrived 25 minutes late. Luckily we just got to the gig in time to see the end of the first track and caught the rest of the gig no probs. On the way home, by now my 4th train journey between tinsel town and KK of the day. I have to say my memory is fairly hazy here because I wasn't what you would call on top of my game by now. I have a vauge recolection of some guys behind us having a debate about the Thatchers years and if her policies were good or bad, (The misses said the Thatcherite lost by a long shot) and an old fella sat the otherside who asked me to wake him at P'boro if he fell asleep and I asked him if he'd return the favour. However there's one thing I'm absolutely sure about and that's that we arrived over 20 minutes late.
In summary I've had quite a poor week with GNER but what has been particularly surprising is that I have caught the last train north on 2 separate nights and both have run late. As far as I'm concerned I find it amazing that natwork rail and GNER can't even manage to get a train which is running at a time when the amount of traffic on the lines and in the trains is at it's lowest.
TOSSERS.
