This blogging lark is baffeling me..

by Fentyke @ 03/08/2006 - 19:26:55

I'm enjoying writing this blog. Not only is it quite theraputic, but hopefully somebody minght actually get something out of it or who knows, change GNER's attitude towards it's paying customers.

What I'm really struggling with is the following: -
1. How to get my blog looking like I'd like it too.
2. I don't know what the hell these tag things are, how they work or what on earth their all about.
3. Whilst I've worked out how to put links to sites which provide their own buttons but I can only get links to other commuter blogs to appear on the site. If I click on them, nothing happens. It might be differant for you. You tell me?

I'll put the same questions on the help page and see what happens but if anyone would like to leave a comment and enlighten me, then go for it by all means. Any advice would be most welcome.

On the train front, not a lot has happened recently. We arrived a whole 8 minutes early this morning (which given the regularity that this happens on the 07.20, only sayes to me that GNER have some flex in their schedule to help them avoid late running trains) and I think the 17.20 was spot on time this evening.

One point worth mentioning concerns how the number of Motorbikes parked at the station has dramatically increased since GNER doubled the parking fees. I worked from home Monday so didn't get on the trains until Tuesday. Since then, though I imagine Monday was the same, 6 scooters have appeared that I've never seen before. I know I've never seen them before because they're all brand spankers with less than 100kms on the clock and L plates on em. This can only mean
one thing. 6 more people have bought a scooter, taken their CBT last weekend and abandoned their cars for their commute. I hope they've bought some winter protection too cos they'll need it. I know.

They've only gone and started....

Their bus service. Yep. There's no doubt about it. I saw another bus at the station when I got home last night and another leaving Hampton as I pulled in. Neither had any passengers though. I guess we can take it that GNER are now running a shuttle bus in Peterborough between Hampton and the Station and in competition to the local bus opperator to boot.

From a customer service and marketing perspective, what makes this even starnger is that I'm a season ticket holder, live on the bus route, am registered to recevie e-mail updates of anything that might affect my journey, yet I've heard and seen nothing from GNER advertising this new service or telling me how to access it. So even if I wanted to use it, which I don't, I can't becasue I don't know how. The only reaon I know it exists is becasue I read about on the local rags web site. Surely this is an opotunity to deliver what some might see as good news or idea yet they've totaly missed the boat.

Fairly indicative of GNER if you ask me.
