There are 3 places to park cycles and 2 to park motorbikes at Peterborough station and since they upped the car parking fees, space is becoming scarce everywhere. Well, it seems GNER have excelled themselves and have put up notices in one area which sayes in no uncertain terms ' Please do not park motorcycles here.
Apparently the signs have been put up in response to complaints received from pedestrians. I can't quite work out why pedestrians have complained but I suspect it's because to access this area cycles and motorbikes must ride over no more than 30 feet of pavement. Now without doubt, every single cyclists and biker who parks in this area is responsible and gives way to pedestrians. However I guess that they might feel somebody is going to run them over but even if they did, and nobody ever has, they would hardly risk serious injury when the offending vehicle cannot be traveling any faster than walking pace.
I know how this sounds but if GNER didn't want people to park there, why have a covered shelter for both cycles and Motorbikes. Thankfully commuters are taking a common sense approach and totaly ignoring the the signs and continuing to park.
