A cheaper place to park and right by the station

by Platform6 @ 14/09/2006 - 11:10:28

OK I now know why there was a queue at the multi story car park next to Peterborough station this morning, and its good new for us hard press commuters. The car park is not run by the council its run by Queensgate shopping centre, and they offer an "annual commuter pass" for £590 a year, £220 quarter, or £85 a month. The annual pass offers a saving of £490 a year versus GNER car park and makes the inflexable taxi bus service from the Hampton area look expensive at £750 a year. The car park opens at 6.00 and closes at 10.00pm (not a problem for me as I would be in need of a cab by then if I was that late88|)

Well done Queensgate, I know where I will be parking when my current GNER ticket expires.

Full details are on www.queensgate-shopping.co.uk

Car park developments

by Platform6 @ 14/09/2006 - 09:23:22

At 6.00am this morning there were more people entering the Multi story council owned car park next to the station ,which now seems to open early, than entering the Station car park. The only reason that there was a queue at the station was because once again one of the barriers was not working (so much for GNERs investment!!)
I am looking into the cost of using this car park and will advise ASAP. My view is that as long as it is no more expensive than GNERs then I would rather pay into the councils coffers than GNERs.

Like a pudding

by Fentyke @ 14/09/2006 - 08:50:04

I forgot to sit in 1st class yesterday morning and so disn't find out the reason behind this strange new request for std class passengers to refrain from walking down the train to exit from 1st class. However they haven't made that announcement since I last mentioned it. I'll keep you posted if hear any news or information relating to this subsject.

I caught my usual 07.20 this morning at it was late inboth Tinsel Town and KX. No explanation as to why either. Thankfully we only arrived into KX 5 mins late.

Finally I must mention that I've finally seen a solitary passenger on the GNER mini bus service. At least they can now say this side of the business is growing.
