It's becoming a bit of of a habit for southbound GNER servcies to be delayed on a Monday morning though there seems to be a differant excuse each time. Some days it's down to over running engineering works, others it's signal problems or track failures or people on the line or whatever excuse they choose to use that day.

This morning I turned up at the station at 07.11, paked and locked mi bike and went to buy a paper. Glancing at the board as I walked into the main building at 07.14, I could see the 07.00 hadn't even arrived yet and wasn't going to for another 10 minutes. The 07.20 was running 5 mins late and I think (though could be wrong) that the 07.40 was also delayed.

Mondays are not the easiest day of the week as it is and these delays just make Mondays that little bit worse. What also amazes me is how they can announce and appologise for delyas further up the line but don't seem to say much when, like this morning, we slow down for no apparent reason, come to a complete halt for 30 secs to 1 min then move off again. Slow downs such as these add minutes and minutes to a journey as it takes such a long time to stop a 225 and get it going again.
