It's been announced that 4 companies have so far made the shortlist for the ECML franchise but GNER are not yet one of them. In fact GNER have yet to publically anounce their intentions. The 4 shortlist companies are as follows: -
Virgin/Stagecoach joint venture.
First
National Express
Arriva
The new franchise will run for 7 years 5 months though the final 17 months will be dependant on the successful TOC acheiving performance targets.
So we have about 18 months of GNER left unless they submit a revised bid and win.
