I'm pleased to say the bad weather they forecast has so far, failed to materialise. That's a good thing. Another good thing is the continuation of last weeks punctuality of the trains on which I've travelled.
I was a bit confused this morning though. When Michael came walking down the aisle checking everyones tickets, 2 blokes with clip boards seemed to be following him. To my surprise Michael then started reading out a number from each season ticket holder and the blokes following him wrote them down on their clip boards. What's that all about then? Has Michael been letting his standards slip and the GNER thought police are on his case? Has Lord GNER forgotton how tickets are checked and sent 2 cronies to check it out? Whatever going on, I'm intrigued.
No men with clipboards but there were two of the train crew doing a full ticket inspection on this mornings train. The full ticket inspection itself is not that common but for two of them to do it was a bit odd. I didn’t really think about it until I read of your experience. They also had a really good look at my (advance purchase) ticket, much more intent than the glance that it gets.
There were a couple of brief blizzards in Northumberland this morning but they only served to increase the drama of the coastal cliffs between Berwick and Dunbar. Having said that I agree, and not only has the bad weather thankfully failed to materialise, we’ve got an unprecedented second day of glorious sunshine in Glasgow. Coupled with the increasing daylight I’ve actually enjoyed the journey the past couple of mornings.
