I read recently that Midland Mainline are intending to scrap the current compensation scheme for season ticket holders (which I beleive is similar to GNERs) and replace it with a cash for delays scheme. Depending on the cost of your season ticket, word is that you'll get 50% of a one way journey for delays between 1 - 2 hours, 100% of a one way journey for 2-3 hours and 100% of a return journey for anything over this.
Personally. I much prefer this scheme as people like me will actually get a cash refund for each delay we endure where as under the current scheme the likelihood is that I'll get nothing if GNER meet performance targets.
GNER (or at least the new franchise holder) should pay heed to this scheme as it sounds a lot fairer.
