"You dont know what you're doing"

by Platform6 @ 23/01/2008 - 11:27:23

The title is a well sung chant on the football terraces directed at referees when they make one of their numerous mistakes, it could also be directed at NXEC at the moment, because their first month in change has not gone well.

Once again this morning the 06.10 was cancelled, and once again no reason was given, thats the 3rd cancellation of the 06.10 since NXEC took over, in the previous 2 years under GNER I only ever encountered 3 cancellation of that train. The 06.40 and 7.00 were also on the board as running late. A few nights ago the 17.50 was cancelled due to train failure, the 2nd time this month. This is on top of the large scale problems we have all suffered already this year. It has got to the point now that I arrive at the station expecting problems.

Is this just an "unlucky" start? or are NXEC really incapable of maintaining the level of service we are used to?

Well, the 06:40 turned up late and came into the station from the south..... Does the 06:10 start from Pboro? If so, perhaps that was it, renamed to the 06:40 so that it was "on-time" (nearly)

Yes the 06.10 comes up from London and starts at Peterborough, thanks Detective at least we know what happened to that this morning, and I guess thats why no excuse was given!!!. It also explains why the 06.40 sais at one point this morning "cancelled" and the "06.46" then "cancelled" again.I guess the 07.00 this morning was really the 06.40 and the 07.20 the 07.00 etc etc etc. What a shambles NXEC are fast becoming

The 07.00 turned up at 07.22 and they blamed floods between Newark and Grantham. The 07.20 arrived at 07.26 with the same excuse. In fact every NXEC southbound service was delayed probably for the same reason. Nothbound seemed OK though.

Well I use NXEC daily but I commute north in the morning on the 07:51. I can say that we ran at normal line speed all the way to Doncaster - what floods between Newark and Grantham?

I certainly didn't see any - it's just a pathetic excuse for their incompetence. They are a shambles. As you say 3 weeks into the year, 3 delay repay claims already and a complaint form. It is nearly two weeks since the first delay repay and all the correspondence I have had is a letter confirming the dates for payment of my season ticket scheme direct debit!

They said they were going to be better than GNER - well they are; they are much better at making a complete hash of running a train service.

At least three times this year my seat booking has disappeared without trace as well.

Finally the internet service is a farce as well - I can see why GNER provided it free to first class only - the on train server just doesn't have enough capacity for a train that is half full let alone a full one.

think it was the 8:00, but it didn't show till about half eight this morning - mate down the line at Grantham belled me as well to say his train around 8:30 was cancelled too, yay for wednesday!!

As far as I know this morning delays from leeds were put down to an amount of cable theft in the leeds area. (The signal cable so I'm told).
There were also speed restrictions on the up lines (to london) between doncaster and grantham, due to the high water levels in that area.
Don't quote me on that 100%, as this is what I heard anyway.

I travelled on the 07.20 from Peterborough to London on 23/01/08 and the reason given for the small delay was "temporary speed restrictions between Retford and Newark" - which is fair enough I think.

Please dont expect any real change untill they have weeded out every ex GNER employee and got rid of the lazy bastards. These are the people sabotaging the service.

Expect to see the old gner staff hitting the employment tribunals for unfair dismissal. Expect the government to appoint a quango to find out whats gone wrong, another department to check on the first department and yet another to make sure we get value for money.

This country is going to the dogs on a wave of political correctness which will tear away the balls of this country.

How long before bacon sandwiches are banned beacuse it might offend a muslim?

Well, I see this morning they've banned the Three Little Pigs along with Noddy and Blackboards so it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to ban bacon or any other pork products for that matter.

Shame they won't ban underperforming TOC's

Didnt take long for this garbage to be back

Ok lets start from the top, if they took out every member of GNER staff there would not be any one to run, or drive or guard the trains dip shit, NXEC do not come loaded with staff that they have been paying for months to sit at home and wait for the take over, so this would mean you would be back on here whinging and whining because you had to take an overcrowded FCC train but then that would give you an excuse to whinge about them.

Yes we are being bogged down with the wave of political correctness but what do we do any thing worthwhile about it...no we sit and moan on a blog site, because thats going to make so much differece to the politicians of this country knowing that they will change their policies because of this, maybe if you had any constructive critsism then maybe it would not make you sound like a child who just had his favourite toys taken away and results to insults which really should have been left in the playground at about aged 6

The 0610 was cancelled due to the guard having problems getting into Kings Cross on time. The 0640 usually starts from Leeds but due to cable theft in Leeds it couldn't run. So when a guard was available the 0610 train went to Peterborough to form the 0640 service. This is a situation that is far from ideal but it is better than cancelling both services.

Performance does seem to be getting worse at the moment which is frustrating for us as well as our customers. The printer at Leeds has packed up again!

It seems that Network Rail could perhaps do a little more to help our performance figures. They are good at putting freight trains in the way or forgetting to set the signals properly.

Ahhh the good old NXEC webshite is up to its usual high standard I see. The 16:30 to Edinburgh has a red D next to it (which says cancelled when you hover over it), but the text to the right says "This service expected to be on time"....

Plus, a red D isn't in the legend at the top (green E: early, orange D: delayed, red C: cancelled)

Guess if you're going for this one, I'd watch out, could be on time, delayed or cancelled!

That one is showing up on the York board as cancelled because of an earlier fault on the train.

All the southbound ones seem to be running late due to problems around the Durham area.

well chaps decided to travel to london on a first class ticket from Grnatham. The single fair is now £70. Its cheaper to fly from Heathrow to Rome.

Anyway I settled back and had the first coffee on offer. Then expecting a top up at Peterborough was told the coffee was only for new peterborough travellers.

Penny pinching to the extreme.

Perhaps they will invest all this money they are making in the infrastructure.
