How much will it cost to renew your Season Ticket

by Fentyke @ 25/02/2008 - 14:20:14

I was looking for some infomation on NXEC's web site yesterday and on the hoof, decided to run a quick price comparison between season ticket prices from Stevenage, Peterborough and Grantham into Kings Cross. On the old GNER website this wouldn't have been a problem but it appears NXEC think us commuters don't need to know how much our tickets are going to cost us because they've removed the facility to price season tickets from their website.

Becasue I couldn't find the info I wanted on-line, I rang them. Bad mistake that was. I eventually got through to some numpty and asked him for the cost of an ANNUAL ST from each of the 3 destinations. Unfortunately he could only give me the cost of a monthly ticket and wouldn't/couldn't give me a price for an annual ticket. It got worse. I then asked how I could find the information I was after only to be told that I would have to visit the travel centre at each of the stations I was interested in.

What a load of bollocks this all turned out to be. As far as I can see, NXEC's new web site has reduced the level of information available to season ticket holders and totally removed the ONE piece of information each and every commuter will require. Worse still the only way to find out how much your season ticket is going to cost, is to visit the station at which your journey begins.

I've fired off an e-mail of complaint so lets see if 1. I get a reply, 2, How long a reply takes and 3, If they acknowledge the issue and finaly 4, If they do anything about it. Why am I not hopeful?

According to the National Rail Enquiries site the figures for Standard Class travel are:

Stevenage to Kings X £2740
Peterborough to KX £5560 (or £4480 FCC only)
Grantham to Kings X £6312

None of these include any car park costs which increase as you approach London. Grantham is £972, Peterborough £1080 and Stevenage no facilities, use council car park @ £4.50 per day. I think that this is therefore a bit cheaper than Peterborough.

Of course if one is of the sort that use First Class then it is a lot dearer - but as I am not you can darn well find out the details for yourself if you are that toffee nosed!

By the way. Car Parking at Stevenage for people arriving before 9am has gone up to £6 a day.

Wow £4.50 per day is almost as expensive as an annual ticket for Peterborough. Glad our Ronnie has a 10 bedroom mansion, so we can all stay over.

We love RR

Well thank you fan club member I love myself as well. As for having you stay in my 10 bedroom mansion, I rather think not. Dont want the shagpile trashed and the Van Goghs nicked do we?

I allow Patsy Kensit to stay occasionally but then she is a fit bird and a great shag.

PS Webby or Fenners can you start a thread on Hull trains the service is way ahead of the NXEC cretins

The Van Gogh is a fine pencil self portrait of himself. I bought it ten years ago from Sothebys in Bond Street for £50,000. It has been appraised recently at £250,000 so a nice mark up really.

Obviously I wont be posting my address on here as the theiving bastards from NXEC would be round to nick it.

He wouldn't lower himself to live in Tinsel Town Badwolf. Apparently Ron thinks Grantham is more upmarket than Boro so it's here that he resides. Same shit different bucket!

Well chaps I wont be enjoying your company on the train tonight as I am driving the DB9 Home. It needs a 5000 mile service so a great opportunity not to have to sit with the scum on the train.

I will enjoy listening to the roar of my Aston Martin and the adoring looks of females on the way home.

I expect your wifes and girlfriends would love to be sitting next to me.

Ronnie.

We're a bit surprised you went for the DB9. Surely the DB4 or DB5 would be more keeping with a fine country gent like yourself. My official car for the RR Fan club is in fact the DBS. A car almost as sexy as youself RR ;-)

Anyway I'll meet you outside Nicholas Mee?

RR No 1 fan

All these spiteful comments nearly made me crash the DB9 this morning as the tears welled up in my eyes.

Still once I have had a nice shower in my penthouse suite, had some jolly nice bacon and eggs I shoudl be ready to face London and make another small fortune today.

As for you chaps you too will be earning a small fortune to! A very small fortune I suspect!
