Questions....

by Penfold @ 15/05/2008 - 06:36:56

- Does anyone know why the 0610 slows down to a crawl at pretty much the same point every morning (about 0635)?

- Is it just me, or has the on-train WiFi been a tad flaky of late? The 0610's WiFi seems to come and go once every 5 mins, and several of the later afternoon trains never give me a working IP.

It seems to happen just north of Hitchin, so I guess there is some movement accross the junction there, however I am half asleep by then so I could be mistaken.

Is it me or are the NXEC staff getting worse?

Sitting in first class and the waiter offers a cup of tee to the chap oppoisite, on the first occasion he says, You in the corner do you want a tea?

Another one of these awful bods later asks me the same question addressing me as Mate.

I told him I am not his mate and the correct form of address is Sir.

Where do they dredge these people up from?

i have to agree on that one i dont care whether its train staff or anyone i hate being referred to as "mate" especially when people are serving you, im not your mate, im the customer kidly desist from referring to me as your mate, i don't do it i don't accept others doing it

And who says Peterborough commuters aren't a friendly bunch then eh!!! I often address punters as mate as they often do to me, doesn't offend me in the slightest but maybe northerners are just that little bit friendlier.

If you treat the staff with respect and buy a tickets you will earn respect from us.......

I call people sir, but when you get them saying "don't call me sir, I haven't been knighted" then what do you say?

Moaning toff [Visitor]

You see even more ignorance on their part. If someone has been knighted you would not address them as Sir...But Sir David or Sir Rodney. Similarily if its a lord then its not Lord Rodney but your lordship or Lord Trotter.

Get it?

Ah right Lord Toff. So what happens when they are both a Lord, and a Sir such as David Steel

Well really its a question of rank. The individual normally makes it a person choice. David Steel whom I happen to know prefers the title Sir David when being addressed.

The best advice I can give to the rest of you is to avoid addressing us as

Mate, Guvnor or Cock and not necessarily in that order!

Good luck chaps!

Cock seems to suit more.
