The parking ticket plot thickens

by Fentyke @ 28/05/2008 - 09:09:30

I've been chatting with a number of other commuters who also picked up a parking ticket last week and learnt a whole lot more.

1. At least 1 person has already had their ticket revoked by station staff yet the same people have told most this wasn;t possible.
2. Most people intend to pay the ticket and appeal.
3. A few have got hold of NXEC directors home addresses via the Companies House Website and will be writing directly to them.
4. Most beleive propper, lawful signage and notices were erected Friday Lunchtime.
5. Not one NXEC employee will admit that they weren't there on Thursday morning when we all parked yet each and every one knows they weren't.
6. At least 5 other people are considering switching to FCC as a direct result of NXEC's actions. Thats £27500 worth of lost revenue
7. One person is going to send payment in pennies, another intends to write out 60 cheques of 50p and another intends to travel up to York to pay in person and give them a piece of his mind.
8. Everybody I spoke to is insensed at the way NXEC have handled this. All said they would have been happy to stop parking in that area had NXEC asked us not too.
9. All feel the places we're now parking are too small and woefully inadequate. This was proven this morning when the parking area to the south of the station was full by 06.55 despite being helf flooded. I myself had to park in and inch of water and thanked my lucky stars I wore boots and not shoes or trainers.

All in all, everybody seems to be agreived about the same things but all intend to deal with it slightly diferently. Personally I like the idea of writing to ALL the Directors and paying in multiple cheques but I'm out of the office most of today so can't get to the companies house website until this evening. If anybody else can, please post their details here and I'll put them on a full post later.

Here's the director's details from Companies House, it only costs £1 to get them from the website (really should be free but nevermind...)

David Franks
FURTHER HOUSE, HIGHBROOK
HAMMINGDEN LANE, ARDINGLY
HAYWARDS HEATH
WEST SUSSEX
RH17 6SS

Susan Goldsmith
NEWHAVEN
CATTESHALL LANE
GOLDALMING
SURREY
GU7 1LJ

Raymond O'Poole
46 DAISY LEA LANE
LINDLEY
HUDDERSFIELD
HD3 3LP

This is public information, but I hope that people are polite in their dealings with these people. At least until we know what their response is going to be.

NXEC Trains Ltd is also listed in being overdue in their first accounts. Not a good start there...

First off, glad that you are doing this blog - excellent. We've been treated very poorly and I shall be using the info above, thanks very much.
Chatting to staff at PBoro today, they are annoyed / upset /embarrassed about the way we've been treated. At least one of them was issued with a ticket also. Some of these guys have been there a long time and remember better (it's all relative ;-) ) times.

Apparently some jobsworth from either York or Newark (depending on who you talk to) took it upon himself to annoy those of us with better things to worry about - the tit.

Most companies have an email address in the format:

firstname.lastname@companyname.whatever

A name missing off the list, Richard Bowker, a man of good reputation who is the CEO of National Express trains.

Now wonder how to try and email him? ;-)

I think that it is a bit off that your bikes were ticketed in this way. I think that it would have been better to put tickets on them warning that penalties will be introduced soon and to advise where motorbikes can be parked. However two red signs were placed in the area quite some time ago so its not as if it was so totally out of the blue. I find it unlikely that station would have revoked a parking ticket this would have to be done by the revenue protection team based in York, not anybody working at Peterborough.

I would like to ask Dave to publish his name and address on this blog and invite people to write snotty letters to him. It is totally unfair on the directors that you publish their personal details on here like this. I am sure that you would tolerate somebody doing that to you.

I think that it would be nice if the motorcycle parking facilities were improved by making the area larger and building a shelter for the bikes to stop them getting wet in the poor weather.

ENJ. I think you'll find everybody who got a ticket would agree that a better course of action would have been a warning before direct action. However the two old signs you reffered to were ambiguous and made it appear that the only place that you couldn't park, was on the footpath along the fence between the station and the old sorting office. Of course many ignored them but regardless, there were no warnings that any byelaw was been broken or signs warning of the penalties. This alone makes NXEC's actions wrong.

With regards to publishing the Directors home address on the internet, I should point out that they are already on the internet and freely available from the Companies House Website. All Dave has done is republish whats already there.

At least 5 of them will end up in an alcohol rehab center
