Ticket revoked

by Fentyke @ 02/06/2008 - 15:16:45

Against the odds I decided to give NXEC a call to see if they would be willing to cancel my parking ticket. Unbelievably they did but not without telling me that there is and always has been adequate signage in that area (wrong and Keith can prove it) that I had broken the rules (news to me) and that I shouldn't do it again (now I know what the rules are and there are signs to tell me, I won't). It crossed my mind to put him right but I decided against it because clearly he doesn't know the truth, is only repeating what he's been told and most of all, he doesn't give a shit.

It seemed to me that matey boy on the other end of the phone has recently had this conversation more than once. He was very condesending, but to his credit, he was at least polite (as was I). What stikes me was he would tell me why NXEC had opted to cancel these tickets or explain why NXEC had waited for me to contact them for me to learn that the ticket had been cancelled.

I can now confirm that ALL tickets issued to the bikes/mopeds have now been cancelled.
And that we can use the motorcycle parking at the bottom of the station where it is blocked with taxis for most of the day, (they will be in for a shock in the next few weeks),if you park outside the designated area you will get a ticket, and in the other car park next to the fire station. Signage will be going up to direct you from the bike park to the one at the fire station soon. If any bike is left in the area where they were ticketed expect another ticket and no way out of it.

Noticed the parking area for mopeds in the North Car Park was virtually empty whilst mopeds/ bikes were packed into the South Car Park. Also that some mopeds/ bikes were parked in the bike sheds by the cash machines.

Why don't the moped/ bike users use the large parking area provided?

One answer to that Simon - Security. I took a ride up there and was disgusted with how easy it would be for somebody to nick a bike from there. It was dead quiet, few cameras and they were facing on the exits only and nothing to secure a bike too. At least at the south car park, there are plenty of CCTV cameras, regular passers by and it can be seen from the main station.

I'm not lazy and would use it if it were fit to park there.

TBH I think you're worrying over nothing.

Been parking the car up their for many months and have never seen any cars damaged/ yobs hanging around.

Also CCTV is worthless. Anybody riding a moped would have a crash helmet on anyway. So the CCTV would see a person stealing your moped GREAT! But CCTV wouldn't pick up much else.

(Plus of course you assume it's switched on and recording to a high standard)

The moped parking at the North carpark is overlooked by the FCC staff complex and the EWS crew complex is it not?

One point you missed Simon and my greatest fear. It's very easy to lift a bike into the back of a van if there is nothing to secure the bike too. Not so easy to do that with a car.

I didn't notice if the FCC and EWS offices overlooked the area so i'll take your word for it. Even so, that's not very reassuring.

Best of luck dickhead. Take some good bolt cutters and perhaps some welding gear with you or you've got no chance. Oh and when you've knicked it, my advice would be to give it a good service before you try and sell it on.

Jesus mate he needs to take welding gear? How bad is your scooter?

If our a bit hard up we can lend you a few quid for a new motor mate!

LOl Ron. There's nowt wrong with my bike that a good service won't fix. Old dickhead here might need the welding gear to cut through the wheel lock, chain and/or post I've secured the bike too.

Noticed a few bikes down in the crime infested North Car Park today, when parked up. Wonder how busy the North moped park will be when the bad weather returns.

Also never noticed before, but a few train spotters park up just outside the car park exit - they'd notice some Chav with a van knicking your mopeds - or maybe they were doggers. But then again with their Thermos and notebooks I'd say they were train spotters.

I too noticed people being either brave or foolish and leaving bikes in the area by Mayors Walk bridge. I noticed the bikes about 10 seconds before I noticed the junkies under the bridge smashing empty booze bottles and lighting up whatever toxic crap they were planning on inhaling. Thanks NX...
