Could we be saying goodbye too...

by Fentyke @ 22/07/2008 - 09:00:10

Onboard ticket checks.

I overheard one of the guards this morning, telling a fellow commuter that NXEC are trying to move onboard Revenue Protetion (Guards to you and I) to ticket barrier duty and cease ticket checks on board altogether. Could this be goodbye to Sean (who I now see on some early evening services) Matt and the other guards who I happen to think are good at their jobs.

Thats great news it should reduce the waiting time at Macdonalds.

Seriously it makes sense. check them in the barriers rather then check them on the train and the barriers.

Clever fare dodgers prefer to be checked on the train and not at the point of their destination.

It's probably a better way to ensure revenue, but it sure as hell will slow down getting out of station - and it will cost quite a bit to establish appropriate barriers - especially eg at York, Newcastle and Edinburgh where the stations are all predominantly open access.

Either way it beats FGW on the Paddington to Bristol route where you're checked in and out and on the train as well!

its a great idea...ill be getting the train at whittlesea...changing at peterborough...to goto london so i wont be going through the barriers...will i still need to buy a ticket???? because no one's going to check it....

Guards and Ticket Examiners are two different jobs altogether...

Guards are needed for the safety critical operation of the train. Without a guard or driver, the train doesn't go anywhere. Along with this role, they also carry out revenue protection ie check tickets.

Ticket examiners only role is revenue protection duties.

Ah the safety critical guard!

Is that the same person who blows his whistle when the train is about to depart ignoring every poor bastard who is late?

Is that the guard who spends the whole journey tucked up in his tea room reading dirty books and having the occasional sly wank?

Is that the smelly useless fucking bastard that earns almost £12000 a year and lives in a council pit?

Well blow me they wont be missed along with the rest of the idle lazy scum running this poxy railway.

I apologise for the word running in advance as that assumes some degree of competency.

Correct that its the Revenue Protection team are "rumoured" to being displaced this has not been confirmed yet.

As for Razor smart arse, yes the guard blows his whistle when its time for the train to leave and if your late, run faster ya lazy fat bastard and exercise more

£12,000!!!, £12,000!! ho ho maybe in the days of B.R sunshine try doubling that for basic then add all other stuff on top of that, read it and weep, and hmm let me think getting paid that much and being able to read and drink tea, ho ho dont you wish you ahd a job like that, if only you had paid attention at school, you could of moved from your job as road sweeper

and yes guards are safety critical, lets hope you not in a train crash one day, because you will be the one blubbing to the guard, who will hopefully push your sorry arse off the train.

oh how these little inbred commuters will be missed

Double 12000 thats 24000!! And add all the extras lets say another 6000 wow that makes 30000. Thats nearly 600 a week say 400 after tax!

That would not even pay my weekly resturant bill!

As for guards saving people in the event of a train crash, what a load of bollocks.

Save themselves first and direct events from as far away as possible.

It was commuters who were doing the rescuing on the 7th july at kings cross.
I was there!

Glad to see you dont deny the dirty books and wanks you wanker.

Oh Razor Ronnie, not another few bad days travelling to the big city you poor little poppet, you really must knock the MacDonalds on the head for a couple of nights and jet off to Sardinia. Bet Ryan Air love you on their flights, at least all your shouting and whinging drowns out the sound of the engines!

I bet you don't invest your hard earned on a happy meal at the big M neither, happy would go against the grain a bit! You wear'nt the thicko that waited too long at the drive-in to get served, so slashed the car seats in a fit of rage, go on, it was you was'nt it?

30K a year Badwolf, worth every penny, particularly when things go wrong. It's always staff like the guards who have to take the flak Razor Ronnie spurts out on a seemingly continual basis.

I can't imagine anyone who spends over £400 a week on restaurant bills even managing to fit on a train let alone run 10 feet to catch one; that's another good reason Razor Ronald MacDonald my porky little friend, to stop the salad dodging all the time. You may even find that all those junk food chemicals racing round your body may explain why you're so worked up.

So Razor, listen to the old wise one; change your lifestyle before you finally blow all your fuses, and to all the NXEC guards, keep up the good work. Spme of us still appreciate what you do and realise that your role is one of the most important on the train, whereas others seem to think the only thing on the train that matters is them!

Really Razor i did not realise McDonalds was that expensive, is that because you have to take your herd of children and do you have to pay for the privellage of a window seat.

Well as you have never been involved in a train crash, to say that guards would leave you too it is in part pathetic and shows your lack of intellect.

Maybe i would get your facts straight about 7/7, now i know your not too intellegent so i will try and explain to you and keep it simple for your poor little braincell.

Big bomb that went off, hurt lots of people on TUBE train, thats right TUBE train, NXEC do not work TUBE trains, thats a different choo choo train, they dont have guards, all NXEC guards where all on non TUBE trains up the east coast.Second BIG bomb was on BUS, LONDON BUS not NXEC BUS with guards on it, again NXEC guards where all up the east coast mainline, so it would be very difficult for them to be running around London helping when most would be miles away from London.

guards do things like help when train derailed at Hatfield, unfortunatly the guard could not help at great heck he was killed, i know that was probably an inconvience for idiots like you, but im sure it was not on his "to do" list

Both Razors need to keep this coming as it's almost entertaining. One thing RG. Your claim that the guards are worth every penny of their salary 'particularly when things go wrong', is bollocks. IMO not one NXEC employee can make up for the debacale and lack of information when things go wrong unless they start giving us some worthwhile information.

Hello, long time no speak.

Razor Ronnie you are are prize cunt!

Without the guard the train would not run, simple as that, so simple even a twat like you might manage to fathom it.

There is talk that the revenue protection people are likely to be moving onto gating duties. I would think that guards will still check tickets on trains to cover people who get on at stations like Whittlesea and to chuck standard ticket holders out of first class who think that they can try it on.

As far as what a guard earns, would you be happy to truthfully tell us what you make? I bet not, as benefits pay less than your weekly restaurant bill.

The 7/7 thing. It might surprise you to learn that guards were involved in the rescue operation that took place at Kings Cross. There were also drivers, station staff, travel centre staff, on train crews, and our chief executive all getting involved. That was not a good day for any of us there. Thats all I have to say on that.

To awnser all your questions here in one hit.

Persoanlly I coudl not work from home, its a bit of a sad lonely life I would think.
I love the buzz of working and competing in London and I have a great team and a social life there.

As to what I am worth and earn, well this is an anonymous internet site so I dont care, but here we go

I make over £400k base a year and as much again in bonus.

I have a penthouse in Jermyn street worth about £3m. I have a manor house close to grantham worth £1.5 or there abouts.

We have stocks and investments worth £1m.

Yes I pay huge taxes and resent subsidising lazy bastards out there.

Would I change any aspect of my life....None.

Do i give a fuck about any of you.

NO not one jot so fuck off!!!

Ever Yours

Oh Lord of the Manor Ronnie, I'm doffing my cap as I write. Just proves the old saying was right all along; "Money can't buy you happiness!"

Nice to know though that the twenty hour days you keep working (including travelling time) have given you a nice little pile, but you should really let your team take some of the stress of your broad MacDonalds sponsored shoulders, so you can enjoy the fruits of your labours.

I have heard that you can rent a nice cheap penthouse at Butlins,Skegness for a week, would probably do you the world of good and you should be able to get your chauffeur to drop you at Grantham station and get a direct train from there.

You could even take your Monopoly game with you and buy a whole row of houses, Kings Cross station and maybe even the Electric Light Company. Imagine all those added to your portfolio of stocks and investments!!!
I do agree with your sentiments about working alone from home though, it's a right pain having to get up and sit at the opposite side of the table to throw the dice!

Just remember; "Do not pass go, do not collect £200, go directly to jail"

Humbly yours RG

Lol oh dear Razor you do have a vivid imagination, this 400k a year job plus 400k bonus and yet you are still travelling in standard acommodation, surely a commoner who brags about money would surely be able to squueze his fat behind into the first class seats and be chucking notes as tips to all the peasents.

I see we are back to the "alleged penthouse" in Jermyn Street which you told us in a previus blog but for those who dont know the actual address is a bank and none of the building surrounding this have any penthouses.(its always good to check facts)

i suppose in reality you are just a little cog in the industrial wheel in your bank, where you sit and daydream out of your sad existance of what it would be like if you had penthouses in grantham and london, also for men that earn that much money i dont think would have time to be sat idling their time away on a peterborough commuter blog, for someone so busy with high finance you seem to have a lot of free time.

still at least your happy with your fantasies that gets you away from your dreary little wife and your whining kids who all want to live at McDonalds, where did it all go wrong you sit and wonder as you gaze out of the window eating your happy meal?

I am delighted to see you are doffing your cap and are humble enough to recognise a talented player like myself.

Thank you for your insight into Butlins, it svery kind of you and one day I might even drive past (Aston Martin DB9 Black) just to see how the other half live.

You mention not having far to move to roll the dice, I would on a totally serious note recomend you take some exercise as we would not want a porky blogger would we.

Ever yours

Razors

Crystal or Krug tonight??

Tough choices but someone has to do it!

Razor Glass [Visitor]

2008-07-24 @ 18:53

Tough choice indeed Sir Ronnie de Razor! But nice to see you've taken my advice and will be giving Maccy D's a miss tonight, Crystal or Krug makes a refreshing change from your usual tea time brain work out; Apple Pie or MacFlurry!!!!!!!

That sounds a really nice car, but I prefer to be the top hat, adds a bit of class to the gaming board.

Be lucky and throw a few double sixes and you may up your 'earnings' to 500K, certainly helps you take your mind off pushing that brush round the big city's streets.

Enjoy your tea and don't forget to wash your hands, we don't want sticky little Razor fingerprints all over the best crystal that QVC can offer do we, mummy won't be very pleased!
